Not to be outdone by other recent barbecue expansion news, Jack's Bar-B-Que announced the impending opening of its third Nashville storefront, located on Charlotte Avenue.
Owner Jack Cawthon "thought [the] building just screamed barbecue," and that "it just had that look of an old-fashioned barbecue place." But the property also apparently has some real history behind it.
Located at 1601 Charlotte Avenue, it was the site of the first Tennessee state prison, and in the 1960s was a club that hosted such stars as Jimi Hendrix and James Brown. The restaurant is set to open in July.
