Mason's Opening; Nashville Food Project Dinner

WEST END — Tonight is the grand opening of the new restaurant and bar concept Mason's and Mason Bar in the newly renovated Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. Following a $17 million overhaul, Loews chose local chef Brandon Frohne to helm the kitchen, which is described as "an edgy yet elegant 'Southern Brasserie.'" [EaterWire]

DOWNTOWN — Following up on the success of last year's inaugural event, The Nashville Food Project's Nourish dinner will once again be bringing together chefs from near and far for a good cause. Held at the Nashville Farmers' Market, this year's guest chefs are Hugh Acheson (Empire State South, Atlanta, Ga., Five & Ten, Athens, Ga.) and Rob Newton (Seersucker, Brooklyn, NY). Local talent includes Philip Krajeck (Rolf and Daughters) and Hal Holden-Bache (Lockeland Table), among others. Single tickets are $175, and do hurry, they are going fast. [Official Site]

DOWNTOWNThe Nissan Taste of Music City comes back to Riverfront Park this weekend. In its 11th year, the event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. this Saturday, the 22nd, and will feature over 60 food and beverage vendors, as well as live music. Tickets are $45 in advance. [Official Site]

GERMANTOWNCity House has announced a special Sunday Supper on August 11th in support of Atlanta chef Ryan Hidiger, who earlier this year was diagnosed with Stage IV gallbladder cancer. Proceeds from the event will go to The Giving Kitchen Initiative, which was created to assist Hidiger. Ryan Smith, currently with Empire State South and soon to be at upcoming Atlanta restaurant Staplehouse, will also be in the kitchen. Tickets are $150 inclusive of tax and gratuity.
