Boca Loca Cantina and Taco Factory Set to Open in Former Bombasha Space

New, 3 comments

The long-standing Hillsboro Village restaurant space that most recently housed Bombasha does indeed have a new tenant: Boca Loca Cantina and Taco Factory. The brainchild of managing partner Tim Heavey, former VP of Operations for Chicago-based restaurant group Restaurants America, and executive chef David Reyes, formerly the corporate chef for the restaurant group, Boca Loca Cantina promises to serve "handcrafted cocktails, with an emphasis on tequila and whiskey, and elevated Mexican street food." Says Heavey about how the concept came about:

We were developing some concepts in Chicago and Dallas that concentrated on Latin fare, and we had been doing some research on the Nashville market, since it's such a hot city right now. And David trained in Mexico and France for a while, so the opportunity presented itself and it was the right fit.

According to Heavey, the space itself will remain fairly bare-bones, so that the diners' focus can be on the food. Gone will be the dark, cavernous look and feel for a more open and airy vibe. Lighter paint colors will be used throughout, and the drop-down ceiling in the main dining area has been torn out so that full use can be made of the garage door-style floor-to-ceiling windows. With renovations well underway, Heavey has just begun the hiring process and is shooting for an early October opening.
