Bier Fest Restaurant Quietly Takes Over Former West End Viener Fest Location

The sign says it all: 'Bier-Bacon-BOOM.'

It didn't take long for the former home of German restaurant Viener Fest to get its next tenant, as Bier Fest, a beer and bacon focused eatery, opened quietly this past Saturday. Located at 117 28th Avenue North off of West End next to Centennial Park, the restaurant is owned by Joy Shaw, who runs a local events management company, and her husband David. Shaw tells Eater that they knew the owners of Viener Fest, which shuttered back at the beginning of September, and had worked it out to take over the property once they closed.

Much of the menu will stay the same, with German beers still the focus, as well as some holdovers from Viener Fest (latkes, sausage, black forest cake). But the majority of the food will now prominently feature bacon, including a deep fried bacon burger. Restaurant hours are 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
