Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken, the lone local outpost of the popular Memphis original, looks to be no more, as Uncle C's New Orleans Style Fried Chicken is taking its place. A tipster let Eater know that the Gus's signage had been replaced by Uncle C's, and sure enough, the local Nashville website now proudly displays the new name and logo, along with the new menu. Much of the menu is in line with Gus's, with the main difference being the 'hot chicken,' offering up four different heat levels: 'wise,' 'risky,' 'absurd' and 'tomfoolery.'
A post from earlier this afternoon on the Gus's Nashville Facebook page states that "[t]here are some changes coming....watch this space for the announcement - Back open on Monday!" So if you wanted to try to get that last meal in, looks like it's too late.
