FLIP Burger is charging towards that mid-January opening, and word now comes out that Chris Cunningham, previously executive chef and partner at Hillsboro Village mainstay Sunset Grill, will be helming the kitchen.
This certainly should come as a major blow to the 24-year-old restaurant, as Cunningham had worked there for nine years, having been named to the top position late last year. When contacted, a rep for Sunset Grill told Eater that their current kitchen team has stepped up to fill the void, but that they are currently on the hunt for a new executive chef.
FLIP general manager Jason DeSpain says that Cunningham and FLIP's creative director Richard Blais are still flushing out the menu, so do check back for more updates.
