It appears that the property at 2000 Belcourt Avenue has claimed yet another victim, as Hillsboro Village's Boca Loca Cantina and Taco Factory announced this afternoon that they have closed their doors after just a little over a year in business. A statement on their Facebook page says that the closure is due to "challenges with [their] location." But there is hope for the future of Boca Loca, as it goes on to say that "taco cravings will be quenched soon as [they] are currently looking at two other locations."
But now, what is to be made of the vacant space? Including The Trace, which closed in March of 2008, Boca Loca is the fifth restaurant to shutter in seven years. Is location really to blame, even though Sunset Grill has been in business directly across the street for 25 years? Has the right restaurant concept just not come along? Or could the space literally be cursed at this point? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
