The James Beard Foundation announced the semifinalists for the 2014 Restaurant and Chef Awards earlier this morning, and several local restaurants and chefs got the nod. In the 'Best New Restaurant' category, Matt Bolus' The 404 Kitchen and the Goldberg brothers' Pinewood Social were recognized, along with City House chef Tandy Wilson for 'Best Chef: Southeast.' Other nominated groups with local or at least Tennessee ties were Mike Klank and Eddie Hernandez, founders of Atlanta-based Taqueria del Sol, for 'Outstanding Restaurateur'; The Barn at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tenn. for 'Outstanding Wine Program'; and Daniel Lindley of St. John's Restaurant in Chattanooga and Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman of Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen in Memphis for 'Best Chef: Southeast.' The finalists will be announced on Tuesday, March 18, with the winners to be announced at the James Beard Foundation Awards on Monday, May 5.
