Martin's Bar-B-Que, that temple to flame-kissed meats, is now officially open on Belmont. The 3,400-square-foot restaurant, pit master Pat Martin's third location in Middle Tennessee and first in-town, threw open its doors earlier today for lunch service. With a decor that mirrors his Nolensville and Mt. Juliet storefronts, the main dining room boasts approximately 90 table and counter seats, with an additional 30 on the patio. Another patio is in the process of being added to the left side of the space, which will add yet another 30 seats, with both featuring wall-to-wall retractable garage doors.
The menu is the same as the other locations, but Martin tells Eater that there will be some new additions, including 'The Hippy Salad,' new sides such as mac & cheese and greens, and occasional specials like beef ribs and strawberry pie on Sundays. And a major first for the restaurant is the indoor asadora pit, where Martin says he plans "to cook whole pigs, lamb and goats on crucifix and spit" over the open flames.Beer and liquor will both be offered, with 15 beers on tap, as well as their first time offering wine on tap.
He also has other plans for his first in-town location, telling Eater that he is going to do a series of pop-up dinners:
I'm going to shut one patio down, and have Tandy [Wilson of City House], Mike Anthony from Gramercy Tavern [in New York City], not just guys in town but from out of town, come in and do a 5 or 6 course dinner for 30 people, $75 or $100 per person. The only stipulation will be that they have to cook the whole meal using live fire. And all the money will go to charity. I want to start focusing on some charities around town. And we'll either pick the charity or let the chef pick it.
With his first Nashville location finally open, Martin is looking to continue the controlled growth of the restaurant, eyeing a possible Spring Hill location and hoping to take the concept to Birmingham within the next two years.
The Belmont Martin's will be open seven days a week, with hours 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday thru Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday thru Saturday.
