The final piece of The Melrose redevelopment puzzle has been announced, as restaurant, bar and music venue The Sutler Saloon will anchor the south end of the project. A partnership between M.L. Rose owner (and Sinema Restaurant investor) Austin Ray and developer Joe Parkes, the two-level space will occupy more than 8,000 square feet and offer craft beer and cocktails, 'Nashville-style' eats and live music, with a speakeasy inspired cocktail lounge on the basement level. For those who might recall, the original Sutler was housed in the same location, opened in 1976 by country radio personality Johnny Potts and played host to such country music luminaries as Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris and Steve Earle, among others. It shut down in 2005 and briefly re-located to Columbia, Tennessee in 2009. The project is slated to open sometime this summer, so be sure to check back for more details.
