Big news from the folks behind POP Nashville, the pop-up dining and event space that recently opened on the east side, as they will soon play host to Dominique Crenn, chef/owner of San Francisco's two Michelin-star restaurant Atelier Crenn. The only female chef in America to hold the two star designation (and one of only fifteen total), she opened her tasting menu-only outpost in 2011 to instant praise, quickly earning her first Michelin star that year. Crenn is the first announced guest for POP's [City] Meets Nashville, a planned quarterly series where artists from a designated city bring their particular talents to town for a weekend. The events are being curated by POP/Otaku South owner Sarah Gavigan and Stephen Torres, the founder of Imbibe & Inspire, a 'platform for creative people to speak about what inspires them.'
Says Gavigan on why she pinpointed Crenn as her first guest:
I like the way she pushes boundaries, and I think that that's unusual to begin with. But she also has such beauty and grace in what she does, and I love that. The whole concept of [City] Meets Nashville is to bring new people, experiences and ideas to town, and I think her work and her style is truly unique.
Gavigan promises "a fine dining experience like no one has ever had in Nashville," including an art installation from local artist Sadie Monroe to "transform the dining room into a completely different world."
On Friday, July 25, a cocktail hour and reception with Crenn will be held at POP from 6 to 7:30 p.m., (UPDATE: check back soon for more details) with the main event, a seven-course dinner prepared by Crenn, taking place the following evening. Seatings will be at 7 and 7:45 p.m., with 30 tickets available for each. The cost is $200 per person, with an optional wine pairing at $50. Head here for tickets and more info.
