Big changes are happening at 1808 Grille, the popular West End restaurant located in The Hutton Hotel, as opening executive chef Charles Phillips has left his post to pursue an opportunity with The Westin in St. Maarten. But as of earlier this week, a familiar face has taken the helm, as former executive sous chef Jacob Strang has stepped back into the kitchen. Having opened the restaurant with Phillips in 2009, Strang held that position until May of last year, when he left to become executive chef at Frescos in Wexford, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. Prior to his time at 1808 Grille, he was a sous chef with Culinaire at the Nashville Symphony and at Holly Inn and the Carolina Hotel, both resort properties in Pinehurst, North Carolina. No word yet on what changes this might mean for the menu, but be sure to check back soon for updates.
