Some huge news coming out of the local food truck scene today, as the popular Biscuit Love Truck announces plans for a bricks and mortar location. Called Biscuit Love, 'A Brunch Place Born in the South,' it will take over the former Kocktails & Kouture space located at 316 11th Avenue South in the ground floor of The Gulch's Velocity mixed-use development. A partnership with Fresh Hospitality, which has ownership in and operates a number of successful concepts including Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint, Octane Coffee, Little Donkey and Taziki's Cafe, the restaurant is slated to open in the fall and will offer full service brunch, including cocktails and a selection of craft beer. Also planned is a grab-and-go pastry counter, along with 'John's Ham Bar,' featuring 'beaten' biscuits and country hams from throughout the region, and named after southern journalist and author John Egerton, who passed away this past November.
Sarah Worley, who along with her husband Karl Worley founded Biscuit Love Truck in 2012, tells Eater that it will be a much different menu than the truck's, but that some of the greatest hits will make appearances in various forms. One example is the 'Gertie,' named after the Worleys' daughter and featuring house-ground peanut butter, caramelized banana jam and chocolate gravy, will be re-interpreted as banana pancakes.
As for the interior, Worley says to expect a total makeover, as they will be going for a "relaxed, inviting French country feel." Seating is expected to be 80 to 100 inside, with room on the back patio for approximately another 40. The restaurant's hours have not yet been set in stone, but currently the plan is to open for brunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with a late night menu appearing on Fridays and Saturdays. Worley says that they are currently talking about a possible 'transition menu' between brunch and late night on weekends, but that a decision hasn't yet been made.
