Welcome to the first installment of the photo series Eater Scenes, in which photographers visit some of Nashville's most popular and iconic restaurants to capture them at very specific times of the day. For this edition, Justin Chesney visits Hattie B's Hot Chicken's new Charlotte Pike location on opening night.
Hot chicken, and specifically 'Nashville' hot chicken, is having a moment right now. From Chicago all the way to Australia, restaurants are racing to get in the fiery fowl game and duplicate the longstanding local staple. But here in its birthplace, no hot chicken outpost is, well, hotter, than Hattie B's Hot Chicken. Their nearly two-year-old Midtown location, crushed with lines out the door day in and day out, spurred them on to open up a second location on Charlotte Pike in West Nashville. Eater photographer Justin Chesney visits Hattie B's this past Saturday night for their first service.
