A new meat-centric restaurant is headed for the Woodbine and Glencliff neighborhoods, as barbecue eatery The Smokey Pig is on the way. The newest project from Jan and Bernie Strawn, who own and operate a group of local restaurants including Mack and Kate's Cafe and M. Restaurant & Bar, among others, will be located at 212 Thompson Lane in a retail center near the corner of Thompson and Nolensville Road. Jan Strawn tells Eater that the concept will definitely be all about barbecue, offering a variety of smoked proteins including pork, beef, chicken, duck and lamb, the latter option added as a nod to their soon-to-be neighbors, House of Kabob. Strawn says that a bit of a twist on the traditional meat-and-three will also be part of the menu. The restaurant is planning to open sometime later this fall, so be sure to check back for more details and information. In addition, Macke's, their events and catering arm, has outgrown its current space and will be moving and setting up shop next door at 214 Thompson Lane.
