Coffee Shop Eighth and Roast Is Expanding to Chestnut Hill

The 500 square foot space will offer a different feel and a pared down menu.

Change keeps coming to the neighborhood surrounding the former Sounds baseball stadium, as Eighth and Roast coffee shop is in the midst of building out a new location in Chestnut Hill. Located at 1200 3rd Avenue South in the corner space of the 3rd and Chestnut mixed use development, the local coffee house and roastery teased out that something new was on the horizon back in December, but never revealed the location. Now, after a few construction delays, they are in the process of finishing out the approximately 500 square foot space.

Co-owner Lesa Wood tells Eater that they like being in neighborhoods that are up and coming and want the concept to fit the location, with this one serving as more of a grab-and-go spot with a trimmed-down menu. The space will also have a different look than their 8th Avenue outpost, and feature a walk-up counter and seating for 15.

Wood says they are looking to open no later than the end of May.

Germantown's Red Bicycle Coffee and Crepes originally targeted the space last summer, but that deal never materialized.
