This past Friday it was revealed that Martin's Bar-B-Que would be running a new, scaled back version of the popular eatery on the rooftop of the new George Jones Museum on Second Avenue downtown. But buried deep in that Tennessean article was confirmation of possibly one of the worst kept secrets in town: that the former Rutledge music venue at 410 Fourth Avenue South in SoBro will indeed be the next stop for a full blown Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint.
The Nashville Business Journal reported back in November that restaurant group Fresh Hospitality had the property under contract and that they were considering which of their growing number of concepts to fill the space with. Rumors had all pointed to Martin's, and now that certainly looks to be the case.
No details have been revealed about the project yet, but with the property almost double the size (6,220 square feet) of their Belmont Blvd. location (approximately 3,400 square feet), expect some new features. Eater hears that plans are in the works for a beer garden, a dedicated bar area and possibly more. So check back for future updates, and do send any new info along to the tipline.
