Le Sel Has a Website, a General Manager and the Beginnings of a Menu

Chicago restaurant veteran Alexander Reed will be the opening GM.

The Goldberg brothers and their team at Strategic Hospitality are staying characteristically tight-lipped about their new Midtown project Le Sel, but a few new details are out regarding the upcoming "New French" restaurant and bar.

A website for the project is now live, albeit a temporary one. Strategic Hospitality communications director Tara Tocco tells Eater that the launch of a permanent site "will probably coincide with the opening." And while it doesn't provide much new info, giving a brief description of the concept and a lengthier bio of executive chef Rene De Leon, it does give a first look at the logo, as well as the ability to be notified when reservations first become available.

Eater has also gotten word, with Tocco confirming, that they have found their opening general manager in Chicago transplant Alexander Reed. Reed spent the last three and a half years as a captain at Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas' ambitious Chicago restaurant Next, of which De Leon is also an alumnus. Prior to that, Reed worked for three years at the late Charlie Trotter's eponymous and highly influential Chicago restaurant.

And things are starting to get going with the menu, as just last week, executive chef Rene De Leon posted to social media saying "The Le Sel menu takes its first breath. Let the cooking begin."

As for an opening, Tocco says that they still can't commit to any particular time frame, with the website simply stating late summer as the current target.
