The Nashville hot chicken craze continues to sweep across the land, and it looks like Louisville chef and Feast BBQ owner Ryan Rogers is the latest to catch the bug, as he's currently in the process of opening Royals Hot Chicken in NuLu.
Located at 736 East Market Street in the space previously occupied by Taco Punk, Rogers first made mention of a potential fried chicken project he had in the works in an interview with Eater for his Young Guns class of 2015 profile back in early June. But it appears he changed direction slightly and set his sights on hot chicken, heading to Nashville late last month and hitting up a number of popular spots, including Pepperfire, 400 Degrees and Husk.
Social media accounts for the project are live, as well as a website that names fall of 2015 as the targeted opening. Photos show a build-out in full swing, including the modification of a 40-foot shipping container into what will be a bar.
Rogers also appears to be deep into the Royals Hot Chicken' R&D, with a number of hot chicken trial run photos popping up, along with potential desserts and sides.
So be sure to check back for future updates and additional intel as the project progresses.
