Their grand opening in the Nashville West shopping center is today.

After a soft opening weekend, Tom + Chee, the Shark Tank-backed house of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, is having their grand opening today in West Nashville.

Having started as a food tent in Cincinnati, the casual concept became a fast growing franchise after a successful appearance on NBC's Shark Tank in May of 2013. Now they have over 30 restaurants around the country, with many more under contract. Local franchisees and brothers-in-law Sam and Ray Patel are behind the Nashville location, the second in the state.

The menu consists of an assortment of grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soups and salads. Grilled cheese options run the gamut from build-your-own to 'fancy' grilled sandwiches, as well grilled cheese donuts such as the Bananarama (caramelized bananas and gouda) and Blueberry Blue (blueberry compote, blue cheese, and lemon mascarpone).

Ray Patel tells Eater that they have one sandwich that they created specifically for the Nashville store: the "West of Philly," a play on a Philly cheesesteak, made with house roasted roast beef, grilled onions, mushrooms and peppers, pepper jack cheese and garlic aioli on white bread. He also says that they are working on a hot chicken grilled cheese sandwich as well.

The space seats 68 inside, with a patio outside with room for 16.

Planned hours are 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
