Back in June, local restaurateur and former Burger UP and Josephine owner Miranda Whitcomb Pontes announced a new restaurant project called Geist, slated for the historic John Geist property in Germantown. Now word is out this morning that she is doubling down, with plans to open a second restaurant right next door called Lulu.
According to a media release, the new concept, located at 311 Jefferson Street, is "inspired by Venice Beach eateries" and will be housed in a new 3,200 square foot building directly to the right of the Geist project. And while it's still in the development stages, Pontes says that "it is shaping up to be a neighborhood food emporium and watering hole of sorts," offering salads, sandwiches, a "thoughtful" kids menu and a juice bar.
Lulu will have indoor and outdoor seating for approximately 100, and is slated to open in late spring of 2016.
Initial demo work has begun on Geist, which is also slated for a spring 2016 opening.
