EAST NASHVILLE - Sad news for fans of Korean fried chicken, as The Birdhouse permanently closed its doors last weekend, stating via social media that “[w]hile we love our neighborhood and tried our hardest to make things work at this location, unfortunately and frustratingly, it wasn't to be.” Earlier in October it was announced that they would be on vacation while some construction improvements were made, but the restaurant never reopened. THE GULCH - After three-and-a-half years in business, Bond Coffee Co. closed its doors last Saturday, citing a lack of “sustained profitability” and the area’s high rents as reasons for the closure. And what will take its place? A Starbucks, of course. [Nashville Scene/Nashville Post]

RIVERSIDE VILLAGE - One-year-old cafe and wine bar Perk & Cork served its last espresso two weekends ago, announcing via Facebook that “[d]ue to multiple circumstances, Perk & Cork has been forced to re-evaluate our ability to continue operating. It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to close our doors.” [Facebook]
