UPDATED (12/13/16): More details are now known regarding last week’s sudden shutter of Mad Donna’s, as NOBLE reports that an as-yet-unnamed reality television pilot is being filmed at the location, and that exterior signage has now been installed giving the new name of the concept: Wylee’s Cafe & Bar. And the reported tie to a celebrity? The Nashville Scene confirmed this afternoon that Nashville-based singer Sheryl Crow is involved in the show.

Mad Donna’s, the lively East Nashville restaurant, bar and music venue that has been a mainstay in the neighborhood for the past nine years, has abruptly closed its doors, effective immediately. But another mystery project is coming to the space.

Yesterday, NOBLE first reported that the venue, located at 1313 Woodland Street, would be closing down for the next two weeks “due to a massive renovation effort[.]” But a permanent closure announcement was then posted to Mad Donna’s Facebook page yesterday afternoon, and a second appeared earlier today with the following message:

Thank you all. The recent outpouring of support from the community has been amazing! The owners would like to extend their sincere appreciation to you all for the last 9 years and are excited to announce exciting details for a new project soon.

So will it open back up with a new concept under new ownership, or just a re-branding under Mad Donna’s owner Rachel Fontenot? Rumors had been making the rounds that Jon Taffer and his Spike TV Bar Rescue crew were behind the renovation, but NOBLE has confirmed that’s not the case. Have any intel as to what’s in the works? Do send it on to the tipline, and be sure to check back for updates.
