Firepot Tea Bar Is Coming to 12South

The project is aiming for a Summer 2017 opening

Firepot Nomadic Teas

Tea lovers have had slim options in Nashville over the years, but a new addition is in the works, as Sarah Scarborough, founder of Firepot Nomadic Teas, plans to open her first bricks-and-mortar concept next summer in 12South.

Called Firepot Tea Bar and slated for 2905 12th Avenue South, the project will feature a seasonal menu of high quality, direct-sourced teas including traditional varities and made-to-order hand-crafted tea drinks, as well as a number on tap. While the drinks will be grab and go, there will be limited seating as well. A retail component will also be included, with plans to offer loose leaf teas, matcha, chai and curated tea pots and tea ware for purchase.

In a release, Scarborough, who founded the company in 2001, says that she is excited to bring something she’s passionate about to the Nashville community:

One of our goals at Firepot is to make high grade tea accessible and approachable, and this tea bar will help us welcome a new audience. The quality of product will be held to a very high standard, and we want to offer our patrons only the best[.] Firepot has always focused on providing teas that are well-sourced from communities that support ethical trading practices.

Scarborough plans for the tea bar to emulate the philosophies of the company, with a focus on quality, as well as the stories and quality of lives of the growers, harvesters and tea masters it works with. As an extension, Firepot donates one percent of all sales to the empowerment of women and preservation of wildlife in tea origins.

For an early preview of the concept, Firepot will have a pop-up at this weekend’s The Porter Flea Holiday Market from Friday, December 9, through Sunday, December 11, with tea drinks and blended teas available.
