This morning the James Beard Foundation released its list of semifinalists in the 2016 Restaurant and Chef Awards. Over the next month, this "long list" will be pared down, with the finalists announced on Tuesday, March 15. The winners of the Book, Broadcast & Journalism Awards will be honored at a dinner on Tuesday, April 26 in New York City, with the winners of the Chef and Restaurant awards being announced at a gala on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Here's the list of Nashville semifinalists:
Outstanding Bar Program: The Patterson House
Outstanding Chef: Sean Brock, Husk (Nashville)
Outstanding Restaurateur: Benjamin and Max Goldberg, Strategic Hospitality
Best Chef (Southeast): Tandy Wilson, City House
Other semifinalists representing Tennessee include Erik Niel of Easy Bistro in Chattanooga (Best Chef: Southeast) and Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman of Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen in Memphis (Best Chef: Southeast). Five & Ten in Athens, Ga. also received a nod for Outstanding Restaurant, noteworthy due to the fact that Nashville's Treehouse restaurant just snagged their executive chef, Jason Zygmont, late last year.
