A different type of KFC is coming to the Greenwood/Maxwell area of East Nashville, as The Birdhouse, a new fast-casual Korean fried chicken concept, is planning to open their doors within the next month.

Located at the corner of McFerrin Avenue and Cleveland Street in the space that formerly housed Carol Ann's, longtime Nashville chef Chris Futrell and Jones Press food truck owner Casey Carstens have teamed up for the project, with Chad Stephens and Steven Teaster of Demonbreun Street restaurant and bar South brought on as additional partners.

The menu (see below in full) is concise, with an emphasis on 'local' when it comes to the sourcing of their chicken. There will even be a dedicated gluten free fryer for those with real (as well as imagined) gluten needs. Along with Korean fried chicken, there will be a small selection of specials, including bibimbap and Korean BBQ brisket, and sides. Alcohol will be BYOB only.

Outdoor seating only will be available, with plans for five or six tables on the patio. Online ordering and delivery will also be offered.
