NASHVILLE - After all was said and done at the recent Woodford Reserve Manhattan Experience in New York City, Nashville bartender Jon Howard was the last man standing, beating out 600 other cocktail craftsmen from around the country to be crowned this year's champion. Howard, repping Old Glory and Embers Ski Lodge, impressed the judges with his takes on the classic Manhattan and an original concoction called the "Gentleman's Carry-On." THE GULCH - Today only, Gulch sushi hot spot Virago will offer its first Saturday brunch service on the rooftop patio overlooking downtown. Described as "everyday Japanese breakfast with a unique Southern twist," menu items include a bacon and egg handroll and sweet breakfast cereal roll. Reservations must be made in advance. [Web]
