Some big expansion news out this evening, as local restaurant and coffee bar Frothy Monkey is heading out of the Middle Tennessee area for the first time with plans to open a new restaurant and bar in Chattanooga's redeveloped Choo Choo hotel.

According to a release, they'll open a 4,500 square foot all-day restaurant next to STIR, a cocktail and oyster bar that recently opened on the ground floor of the Southside-area hotel. Unlike their current locations, the project will be centered around a large bar that will be full service for coffee on one side and a full service bar serving wine, beer and cocktails on the other.

Frothy Monkey's first location opened in 2004 in 12 South. Since then the restaurant group has grown to operate three full service restaurants along with a cafe, a bakery and their own roasting facility. They plan to open the Chattanooga location later this year.
