The first retail component of the proposed $400 million convention center redevelopment has been announced, and it's a very familiar name, as Tom Morales, owner of The Southern and Acme Feed & Seed, has signed a letter of intent for a new venue.

The Nashville Business Journal details the new project, stating that the as-yet-unnamed restaurant and entertainment venue will take up 12,000 square feet of Fifth + Broadway's outdoor amenity terrace and act as "the 'anchor' of the project's 230,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space." Morales, in a statement, promises to deliver "an entertainment experience as vibrant, original and diverse as your imagination." So we'll see what the restaurateur, who also has a new Gulch seafood restaurant in the pipeline, has up his sleeve when the development opens in 2018/2019.
