12 SOUTH -€” Bongo Productions, the group behind Fido and Bongo Java, is opening a new retail business called BOX (short for "Bongo/Bakery on 10th") at a mixed used development located at 2233 10th Avenue South. The new concept will house the group's bakery operations, which are currently located at Fido, as well as serve baked goods and other items exclusive to BOX. A November opening is projected. MURFREESBORO -€” New restaurant and bar The Gavel Grill & Speakeasy is aiming for an August opening on the Square in Murfreesboro. Taking over the space formerly home to Maple Street Grill, the restaurant will feature a 'high-end bar with a retro feel,' and serve menu items such as steak, seafood, and regional specialties. DOWNTOWN -€” The owners of Broadway nightlife spots Crazy Town and WannaB's Karaoke Bar are preparing to open Sun Diner, a 24-hour restaurant, located next to the Johnny Cash Museum. A partnership between TC Restaurant Group and Sun Records, the music-themed diner will serve classic diner food, as well as original dishes. [Tennessean]
