UPDATED (9/6/16): Yesterday's tentative opening wound up being pushed back to this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. According to posts on Prince's Hot Chicken's Facebook page, hours for the new location will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

UPDATED (8/19/16): Additional details are out regarding the new location. Called Prince's Hot Chicken South, the soon-to-be hot chicken hot spot will have seating for roughly 100, plus another 30 on the outdoor patio. And unlike the original's cash-only policy, they will accept credit cards, and plan to serve beer as well. The Tennessean now also has a brief slideshow showing interior details.

BLOCKBUSTER news: Prince's Hot Chicken Shack, the OG of Nashville hot chicken, is expanding. Yes, you read that correctly.

The Tennessean reports this morning that owner Andre Prince Jeffries has confirmed that a second location is coming to the former Thi3rd Base Sports Bar near the corner of Old Hickory Blvd. and Nolensville Pike. Other than a hopeful opening date of Sept.5, no other details are currently known.

In recent years, as the visibility and popularity of Nashville hot chicken has increased exponentially, rumors have made the rounds about Prince's possible expansion, even as far as the West Coast. But nothing ever materialized. Now folks south of town, along with hot chicken lovers in Williamson County, will have a much shorter drive to get their hands on Jeffries' original fiery fowl.
