Well folks, it's happening. First announced over a year ago, John Rich of country duo Big & Rich has now found a location for his Redneck Riviera-branded bar and live music venue amidst Broadway's sea of honky-tonks.
According to The Tennessean, the new venue, which will open late this year, will be located at 208-210 Broadway, taking over the buildings currently housing Riverfront Photo & Gifts and Mike's Ice Cream. While few other details are revealed, plans do include a rooftop space, a 'Heroes Bar' which will be staffed by veterans and offer veterans their first drink for free, and a limited kitchen menu.
This follows the announcement back in June of a Redneck Riviera outpost opening in Las Vegas at the Grand Bazaar Shops.
A representative with Mike's Ice Cream tells Eater that they have not yet been told anything official regarding the move, and that a closing date for that location has not yet been made known.
2016 is turning out to be a very active year for downtown's bar scene. New multi-story venues Crazytown and The Valentine opened in May, with Second Avenue's Almost Famous and Broadway's Nudie's Honky-Tonk planned to open later this year.
