West side residents now have two more laid-back neighborhood restaurants and bars to frequent, as 51 North Taproom and The Original Corner Pub both opened their doors within the past week.

First out of the gate is 51 North Taproom, the craft beer bar from 12 South Taproom & Grill owners Will Shuff and Jamy Borda. Located at 704 51st Ave. North, soft openings with limited hours and menus were held late last week, with the bar closing to reset Sunday and Monday. 51 North will keep more standard hours this week, with an announcement on social media stating that it will be open Tuesday through Saturday, with hours of 11 a.m. until late all nights and the kitchen closing at 10 p.m. Expect a menu offering favorites from the 12 South location, as well as the extensive tap and bottled beer list the original is known for.

Next up is The Original Corner Pub, an expansion from owner Jeremy Palmer of his Green Hills location (not to be confused with Corner Pub, an offshoot of the original with several locations around Middle Tennessee and the same logo and a similar menu but different ownership). It opened this past Monday at 1105 51st Ave. North, serving up a broad menu of appetizers, salads, burgers, specialty sandwiches and more, along with a full bar. Hours are 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
