A unique burger option will be making its Tennessee debut next week, as the meatless, “bleeding” Impossible Burger will be featured on Hopdoddy Burger Bar’s menu when it opens its doors next Monday in Hillsboro Village.

The burger, a plant-based patty that mimics ground beef to the point that it appears to bleed, made its first appearance on Hopdoddy menus across Texas earlier this summer. The Nashville outpost of the Austin, Texas-based restaurant will be the first outside of its home state to feature the specialty burger.

This version will be served simply, topped with Tillamook cheddar cheese, lettuce, white onion, tomatoes and the restaurant’s signature mayonnaise-horseradish honey mustard sauce, all on a brioche bun and ringing in at $14.

The Impossible Burger has been a major food tech startup success story. Since its creation in 2011, it’s raked in over $250 million from investors and is currently served in high profile kitchens around the country, including David Chang’s Momofuku Nishi in New York and Underbelly in Houston.
