The first phase of the new 404 Kitchen is now up and running, as Gertie’s Bar quietly opened this past weekend.
Located at 507 12th Ave. S, the ground floor bar is the first volley from chef Matt Bolus and his team, as the upstairs restaurant gears up to open within the coming weeks.
West coast vet Christina Cabrera has been brought on as beverage director to oversee the overall bar program, including the quarterly-changing themed cocktail menus. For its debut, the drinks are centered on movies made in Nashville, specifically Walk the Line, Coal Miner’s Daughter and (get ready to stretch a bit here) The Matrix. Also included are a few classics, as well as whiskey flights (including a $335 Pappy Van Winkle tasting). A small selection of wines by the glass, brews and non-alcoholic beverages round things out.
To snack on, Bolus has put together a brief list of drunk food greatest hits, including frito pie, tater tot poutine, his take on a ‘manwich’ and a smoked bologna sandwich.
Gertie’s Bar opens at 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, so take a look at the full menus below, and be sure to check back for more updates.
