UPDATED (5/18/17): Hemingway’s opening has now been pushed back ever so slightly to this Saturday, May 20.
UPDATED (5/12/17): It looks like the wait is almost over for the opening of Hemingway’s Bar & Hideaway, as owner Chris Weber announced via his Instagram account earlier this week that Friday, May 19 is the day.
A Wedgewood-Houston restaurant and bar first announced two and a half years ago is finally making headway, as Hemingway’s Bar & Hideaway is currently under construction.
Located at 438 Houston Street in the Houston Station building, the casual spot, first announced in September of 2014, was originally called Hemingway’s Arcade, with the moniker a reference to the literary titan. At that time, Hemingway’s owner Chris Weber said he chose that name because it “allows us to play a lot with the menu[.] [Hemingway] was very well-versed and well-traveled. We don’t have to stick to one cuisine."
And while it moves towards a spring opening, that menu has now made an appearance on the bar’s website. Broken down between lunch, dinner and bar snacks, items range from a rib eye and etouffee to duck poutine and a Korean fried chicken sandwich. Pricing for the menu is not currently available.
Stated hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week, with lunch served 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., dinner from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and the bar menu available from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
