A commercial corner at Porter Road and Greenwood Avenue in East Nashville again has new life, as Cafe Roze, a casual all day restaurant, quietly opened earlier today.
Located at 1115 Porter Road, the cafe, the first Nashville project from longtime New York City chef Julia Jaksic, takes over the space formerly occupied by Porter House Bistro, which closed back in January. Currently Jaksic, who moved to Nashville with her husband, still serves as executive chef/partner at bar and restaurant Employees Only, along with acting as consulting chef at the two Manhattan locations of Jack’s Wife Freda.
Speaking with The Nashville Scene, Jaksic says that she will concentrate on running the front-of-house this time, while still planning out the menu. Initial offerings will include simple breakfast items, as well as a daily doughnut, an avocado shake, grain bowls and more. She tells Eater that the breakfast menu is pretty well set, but that they will be tweaking the lunch offerings over the weekend for Monday’s launch.
Cafe Roze will serve breakfast and coffee through the weekend, with hours of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Then lunch service, along with all day breakfast, will begin on Monday, with hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dinner and bar service will start up a few weeks down the road.
