Highly-anticipated modern Southern brasserie Liberty Common opens downtown tonight. The new all-day restaurant, cafe, and bar from restaurateur Terry Raley and Amaranth Hospitality joins newly opened modern Japanese restaurant The Green Pheasant in the 222 building, directly across from Ascend Amphitheater. Spanning 6,100-square-feet at 207 1st Avenue South, Liberty Common is the sister restaurant to Raley’s Butchertown Hall.
Raley joins forces with partner and executive chef Jeffrey Rhodes for this mid-century modern slanting French brasserie. Nashville native Rhodes returns to Nashville after spending a decade in Michelin-starred bistros along the West Coast. The focus at Liberty Common is on creating an approachable atmosphere, with stand-out service, and food fusing Rhodes’ classic French training with his rich Southern roots.
Anticipate Southern staples like “biscuit and fried chicken recipes perfected over many years”, and signature dishes like steak frites, duck cassoulet, and Belgian waffles. His food offerings will be complemented by daily pastries and desserts made by Pastry Chef Jessica Collins and full espresso fine tea, and coffee service. All-day dining will be available, including brunch served daily from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Beverage and operations manager Daniel King oversees bar detail, and a wine list curated by Tavola Hospitality’s Robin Riddell Jones commits to sustainably grown and 100% biodynamic wines.
Liberty Common’s design borrows from essential elements of the traditional brasserie — featuring copper pendants shipped in from overseas, opal glass sconces, and marble architectural features. He adds modern touches in the cafe. The restaurant seats 200 indoors and an additional 50 on its traditional French cafe-style patio lining 1st Avenue South. They’ll offer valet parking plus self-parking in the building’s adjacent garage.
Liberty Common will open Monday-Friday at 7:30 a.m and Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.
