New Orleans-Inspired All-Day Brunch Spot Is Headed to Franklin

Brunch from the owners of NOLA’s Ruby Slipper Café

Ruby Sunshine

All-day breakfast restaurant Ruby Sunshine is opening in early 2019 at 231 Public Square in downtown Franklin.

The newest project from Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group, the collective behind the highly acclaimed New Orleans-based eatery Ruby Slipper Café will serve Southern brunch dishes with NOLA twists. Echoing the menu at Ruby Slipper, Ruby Sunshine’s all-day brunch will feature Benedicts, pancakes, and French toast. BBQ shrimp and grits, eggs cochon benedict, and bananas foster pain perdu are a few examples of specific menu items.

Morning-time cocktails offered range from brandy milk punch to a.m. margaritas, mimosas, and their award-winning bloody marys. They’re looking to partner with local purveyors in Tennessee to incorporate fresh, local ingredients when possible.

Open daily, the 4,300-square-foot restaurant will provide a vibrant atmosphere with a mix of bar, booth, and table seating for up to 159 guests. The location will feature a patio area and private event space.

Owner Jennifer Weishaupt said the company is focused on expanding throughout the region and felt that charming downtown Franklin was a perfect place to start, a match for their brand of Southern hospitality.

Owned and operated by the Ruby Slipper Café founders, Ruby Sunshine in Franklin will mark the first of more locations to come across the Southeast. Inspired by the sense of homecoming they felt when returning to New Orleans post-hurricane Katrina, husband/wife duo Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt opened the original Ruby Slipper Café in an effort to help draw people back to their mid-city New Orleans neighborhood. Since opening their cozy storefront in 2008, Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group has grown to operate 10 Ruby Slipper Café locations across the Gulf region and will expand throughout the southeast with Ruby Sunshine, providing new audiences with the unique flavors and hospitality that Ruby Slipper Café is known and loved for.
