The first Tennessee location of legendary New York City food cart turned brick-and-mortar restaurant The Halal Guys is now serving, as the Bellevue location opened its doors this past Monday.

First announced as part of the One Bellevue Place development nearly a year ago to the day, the franchise location at 7618 Highway 70 South appeared to have been finished with its build-out and ready to open at any given moment since last December. Recent posts to social media had been teasing at this week’s news, with Monday’s opening announced with little fanfare.

The menu at each location is the same, offering chicken, beef gyro, and falafel sandwiches and platters, along with a small selection of sides, baklava for dessert, and those famous red and white sauces.

Currently the restaurant is only open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, but look for expanded dinner hours (the restaurant’s website pegs those as 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and weekend service in the near future as business ramps up.

A second location is slated to open later this year at 4109 Charlotte Ave. in the space previously home to The Beer Pale.
