Starting this Wednesday, Nashville will no longer be the only Tennessee city that can lay claim to hot chicken specialist Hattie B’s, as the popular restaurant will open its first Memphis location on Wednesday.
Owner/operators Nick Bishop, Sr.’s and Nick Bishop, Jr.’s new outpost is located at 596 S. Cooper St. just a few blocks north of the Cooper-Young district. The existing property, originally home to Dixie Burger when it was built in 1962, has been reworked, expanding it from 2,700-square-feet to 4,000-square-feet. The new space seats 125, including 60 seats outside on the covered patio.
Hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to midnight and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This will make the fifth Hattie B’s to open since the original Midtown location began serving in August of 2012. Currently there are three in Nashville, one in Memphis, and one in Birmingham, Ala., with a sixth slated to open in Atlanta later this year.
