The Southern V Brings Vegan Comfort Food to North Nashville’s Buchanan Arts District

It’s grand opening day for the restaurant’s new location

It’s a banner weekend for fans of vegan eatery The Southern V, as owners Tiffany and Clifton Hancock re-opened their popular comfort food restaurant in its new greatly expanded digs earlier today.

Located at 1200 Buchanan St. in North Nashville’s Buchanan Arts District, the recently relocated venture joins Slim & Husky’s, The Rollout, and upcoming cocktail bar Minerva Speakeasy in the rapidly evolving commercial area.

It’s been an impressive progression for the restaurant. In just a matter of two and a half years, the Hancocks have taken the venture from farmers’ market pop-ups and special orders only, to a roughly 600-square-foot brick-and-mortar walk-up location on Fisk St., and now to a fully realized restaurant with an expanded menu, expanded hours, and plenty of indoor seating.

An updated menu is not yet available online, but expect all of The Southern V’s signature dishes, such as apple fritters and doughnuts and their take on chicken and waffles, along with new additions thanks to the upgraded kitchen. And indoor seating is a game changer, with bench seats, four-top tables, and more (take a look inside here).

Hours this weekend are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for brunch and very early dinner. Future planned hours are not yet posted, so be sure to check the restaurant’s social media for updated hours going forward.
