Back in February, the Hillsboro Village building that houses Sportsman’s Grille went on the market. Last week, The Tennessean reported that Vanderbilt University purchased the property for $2.35 million. When the property went on sale, owner Jim Chandler told the Nashville Post that an exact closing date is not currently known for the northern hunting lodge-themed bar, but “that if the opportunity arises, ‘we may be able to negotiate a new lease’ with the future owners of the building.”
It seems now that Sportsman’s days are numbered. The lease expires on May 31, according to the Nashville Post. An Eater tipster says that the restaurant stopped ordering from vendors last week. Phone calls to the Hillsboro Village Sportsman’s go unanswered.
While perhaps not a nationally celebrated food venue, Sportsman’s is near and dear to many Nashville natives. The Belle Meade location is still around for those looking for a cold beer or meatloaf melt.
