A well-known restaurant property in The Nations is again in transition, as The Red Bicycle café will take over the space very recently home to neighborhood bar and restaurant House.
Located at 712 51st Ave. North, coffee shop owner Dave Trett tells the Nashville Post that they assumed the lease from House owner Kyle McPhee, and plan to open in early June. McPhee opened House in July of 2016, taking over what was previously home to The Stone Fox. But that stretch of street has since become home to a number of watering holes, including Nations Bar & Grill, The Original Corner Pub, and 51 North Taproom and Grill, greatly increasing competition for people’s drinking dollars.
Trett, who owns and operates Red Bicycle locations in Germantown and Woodbine, has had his eyes on expansion to The Nations for quite some time, with The Tennessean reporting in the fall of 2015 that Trett had planned on bringing a new coffee shop and restaurant venture to The Phoenix property, a newish development on 51st Ave. North that is now home to Bare Bones Butcher.
