Char, the contemporary steakhouse and piano bar taking up residence in Green Hills, is scheduled to open September 17.
Located at 3988 Hillsboro Pike in the Vertis Green Hills development, the new 150-seat restaurant will serve lunch and dinner daily and host nightly entertainment in the piano bar, plus a New Orleans-style jazz trio during Sunday brunch.
Chef Evan Campbell helms the kitchen at the new outpost, and the modern Southern menu shows items like a chili-rubbed cowboy prime ribeye, seafood carbonara, and cornbread-dusted redfish with cheddar grits. In the bar, expect classics like the Sazerac, plus their own interpretations like the Char old fashioned with the restaurant’s select Woodford Reserve.
The interior blends brass and marble finishes with dark wood to remind diners of an old-school supper club. Carpeting is a nod to men’s suiting, and the main dining room’s light fixture has a map of Nashville created from gold leaf - a custom piece from local artisans “I saw the Sign.”
Owned by 4-Top Hospitality, the local group who brought Nashville Amerigo, Etch, Etc., and earlier this year, Saltine, Char is the third location of the Jackson, Mississippi-born restaurant. The contemporary steakhouse and piano bar joins healthy mini-chain True Food Kitchen as the second food and beverage tenant in the property, and will occupy 5,158 square feet on the ground floor of the mixed-use project. Char’s first location opened 16 years ago in Jackson, Miss., with a second outpost in Memphis.
Once open, Char’s hours are Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
