A fire reported at 10:30 p.m. Sunday caused Thai Phooket to close until further notice, according to News Channel 5 and multiple media outlets. The popular Thai restaurant housed in a trailer near Nissan Stadium at 207 Woodland Street was ablaze with heavy smoke when crews arrived. Officials report that the fire seems to have begun in the restaurant’s kitchen. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the fire.

Thai Phooket’s owner Bee Dipasuth told the Tennessean he plans to rebuild and reopen. The restaurant took on new owners and the current name in 2009, and a second outpost in Rivergate opened in 2012. Thai Phooket serves a large menu featuring soups, rice, noodles, and traditional curries — the pad Thai is a crowd favorite.
