Sarah Gavigan’s essential izakaya Bar Otaku has opened up its new VIP karaoke experience “The Back Room” for reservations for groups up to 15.
Opening last week, tucked away in the rear of the Gulch restaurant, The Back Room is available to rent for sessions on Tuesday through Sunday, (book here) for $150, and include a personal server for a la carte menu options and sake, plus access to a special Japanese whisky collection. Cocktails include limited-time The Lady Holland, Bar Otaku’s take on a spiked bubble tea, featuring in, chartreuse, pomegranate, coconut, and tapioca.
To eat, there’s a secret menu of specialty bites, exclusive to the room and hand-crafted by Sarah Gavigan.
The space can be reserved for bachelorette parties, work events, and other special occasions, or just for a fun karaoke night out with an award-winning sound system set-up (powered by award-winning ADAM Audio monitors). Co-headquartered in Nashville and tested and designed in Berlin, ADAM Audio’s system creates a transparent, highly defined and authentic sound.
Using the app Karafun, guests can choose their karaoke anthem on their phones, or do things the old-fashioned way with a built-in record player.
The karaoke room merges Gavigan’s former life as a music agent and her dedication to Japanese culture. In her two decade-long career in the music industry, she founded the first company representing Indie artists to advertisers for licensing, taught at a university, and consulted for labels and publishers worldwide on music licensing.
