East Nashville essential dive bar The Edgefield Sports Bar & Grill has plans to close this summer, according to the Nashville Scene.
The beloved, smoke-filled watering hole has been an East Nashville staple since 1994, but owner Charlie “Buzz” Edens says he won’t look for a new location once his lease runs out this summer at 921 Woodland Street. Known for affordable drinks, bar food, pool tables, and darts, The Edgefield is one of the least pretentious and most enjoyable bars on the east side.
Local real estate investors McClain Towery and Elliott Kyle, alongside two silent business partners, created 921 Woodland Partners LLC to acquire the building and land where it sits in 2015 for $1.3 million. Owners told the Scene to expect some upgrades but that they plan to maintain “the essence of the business” with the future tenant.
