Crispy Detroit-style square pizza slices and standout double-stacked burgers are on tap for Green Hills this week — as Emmy Squared opens a second Nashville location there on May 31.
Emmy Squared Green Hills’ debut comes after the success of the Eater Nashville Restaurant Import of the Year’s opening in March 2018 in the Gulch. The restaurant’s massive new outpost is in the former Table 3 space, located at 3821 Green Hills Village Drive, and it underwent a fast facelift — one that’s friendlier for large parties and families than the much smaller Gulch location.
The fourth Emmy Squared in the team’s portfolio is the largest to date — 5,500-square-feet complete with two expansive patio areas plus a private dining room for larger parties. The pizza joint is the second concept under parent brand Pizza Loves Emily by Emily and Matt Hyland, whose restaurants are famed for pizzas of the round and square varieties. Born in Brooklyn, the first concept is a neighborhood pizzeria specializing in round, thin-crusted pies perfected in a wood-fired oven. The duo expanded their empire with Emmy Squared’s opening in Williamsburg in 2016, two years after the opening of Emily’s flagship spot in Clinton Hill. The team opened the Nashville outpost in March of 2018.
The space in Green Hills seats 240, and sees a brighter vibe with a fresh coat of paint and lighter tables and chairs. A wall was cleared to allow more natural light into the dining room, and backlighting adds interest to the bar alongside refreshed brass and copper fixtures. The bar will also features TVs.
Nashville native chef Graydon Atchley expands his role, now leading the kitchen in both Music City locations. Atchley works closely with founding chef Matt Hyland to execute Emmy Squared’s Detroit-style square pizzas, seasonal salads, and sandwiches including the highly acclaimed Le Big Matt burger.
Green Hills’ Emmy Squared opening menu also features the new hot chicken wedge and hot chicken pie — worthy tributes to Nashville’s signature, highly sought after dish. The Green Hills menu will include more salads for the lunch crowd and extended children’s items, along with family-style private dining options for large groups and private parties.
Delivery and takeout options via Postmates and UberEats will eventually rollout, plus two designated parking spaces for curbside pickup. Reservations are available on Resy and on OpenTable. Complimentary valet is available during lunch and dinner.
“Our first expansion outside of NYC was to The Gulch and we love being part of this community. The company has many ties to Nashville as well — Matt has family in Green Hills, myself and our other partner Ken Levitan live here — when we saw the Table 3 space was available, we knew it would be a perfect new home for our second Emmy Squared Nashville location. Our footprint will continue to grow as we open in new markets along the East Coast, looking to Philadelphia and DC next, with additional expansion plans in the future,” says owner Howard Greenstone.
