Two New Cocktail Bars Join the Bustling Wedgewood-Houston Neighborhood

Never Never and pH start slinging cocktails in the bustling neighborhood

Two new bars are shaking up the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood’s cocktail scene this summer: Never Never opened last month, and pH Craft Cocktail bar is opening next week, according to the Nashville Scene.

Never Never took over a former welding shop across from Bastion, just blocks from Flamingo Cocktail Club. Co-owner Bryan Kenney told the Scene he wants to focus on keeping the industrial feel. Instead of a traditional cocktail menu, Never Never simply has a list of spirits — then the bartenders create something tailored to your liking (a la Attaboy). A tiny, random-seeming food menu offers vegan and regular bang chili, bang candy co. chili nachos, pancakes, kolaches, and a meatloaf sandwich.

Down the street at 1249 Martin Street, pH Craft Cocktails sets up shop in mixed-use Six10 Merritt at The Finery, aiming to open Friday, July 19. Owned by Wedgewood-Houston resident and first-time restaurant owner Marcus Capehart (who has spent some time doing pop-ups in years past) the space seats 75 inside plus an addition 20 outside, on the patio.

Capehart promises small plates of elevated bar fare alongside specialty cocktails, plus beer and some wine on tap.

pH will open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 5 p.m. to midnight; Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.; and serve Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bar will remain open until midnight on Sunday.
